Autism link to wifi and mobile phones

MOBILE phones and win" technology are linked to the massive rise in the
number of children diagnosed with autism, a study claims.

The report, by Dr George Carlo, claims that electro-magnetic radiation
(EMR) given off by mobile phones, masts and wireless computers can cause
damage to cells within the body, rendering them unable to expel the
so-called "heavy metals" that are thought to cause autism.

Heavy metals in the body interfere with the distribution of dopamine, a
hormone and neurotransmitter which controls fine motor skills. Such
abilities appear to be limited in autistic children. Dr Carlo conducted
tests on 23 autistic children, limiting their exposure to EMR for the
study, published in the Journal of the Australasian College of
Nutritional & Environmental Medicine. He found significant improvements
in ability and behaviour, with the result that all of the children began
to communicate with their parents and regain some motor function. Each
child under-

went "metal clearance" - detoxification with nutritional supplements and
the use of specialist equipment to eliminate heavy metals such as
aluminium and mercury from their bodies.

The results showed considerably greater amounts of metals expelled
through skin, hair and faeces when the subjects were protected from
exposure to wireless communication devices.

One in 100 children is now autistic compared with one in 10,000 just 30
years ago. Dr Carlo said: "Although some of the increase can be ascribed
to more efficient diagnosis, a rise of this magnitude must have a major
environmental cause."

Dr Carlo, who founded the Science and Public Policy Institute in
Washington and headed the largest study into the impact of mobile phones
- part-funded by the industry - said: "This is the first study that
allows us to make the link between autism and the radio waves used in
wifi and mobile phones.

"We have four billion mobile phones throughout the world. We've created
a background level of exposure to .EMR unprecedented in history. It
causes a fundamental disruption to living cells."

Nutritionist- and report co-author Tamara Mariea, said: "EMR causes the
cell membrane to close down so heavy metals cannot be properly eliminated."

She said the body absorbs heavy metals from pesticides, pollution, diet
and vaccinations - particularly those that protect against childhood
diseases. The build-up can lead to "trans-generational toxic
accumulation" - meaning the damage caused is could be passed on through
our DNA.

"We're downloading our toxins to our foetuses," she said. "Our children
are being born with this burden into environments containing EMR that's
shutting down their capacity to process them out Then we inject them
with more heavy metals through vaccinations."

Alasdair Philips, director of the campaign group Powerwatch, said: "We
are surrounded by electro-smog. We are going to see an epidemic of
health problems - not just autism."

A Mobile Operators Association spokeswoman denied there was a link
between health and radio waves. [/ and presumably between strong
