information to the military for the recruitment effort of Juniors and

This was part of the "No Child Left Behind Act" of 2002.
For any of you with children in High School in Hawaii, you have two
weeks left to get your opt-out forms in to the school to prevent your
child's contact information from automatically being provided to
military recruiters. The DOE in Hawaii has changed their policy so that
it's no longer necessary to do this every year. Now, once it's done, it
will stay on file for the duration of your child's enrollment in High
School. And, they've extended the date from October 1 to November 1.

CHECK your State Department of Education website to read about your
local policy - OR call them. It will automatically be done, YOU have to
take the action to sign the opt-out to prevent your child's information
from being shared. This must be done in the form of an opt-out - in
writing. You may need to call the school itself to secure the
information of how to do an opt-out for your child.
