Health Care Reform
The "focus" is obviously primarily based on health care costs and
availability of insurance. Doing nothing re simple, cost-free ways to
greatly reduce numerous health problems -- the urgent need to reduce
bedroom EMF/EMR close, chronic,prolonged exposures -- will assure
Minnesota and all other states will never achieve their healthcare goals.
AARP has a campagin called "Divided We Fail" --

attempts to get my message through to AARP representatives. I plan to
attend this lobbying event whether I receive a response or not.

_*AARP Asks Legislature to Listen to Consumers on Health Care Reform *_
AARP is urging the Governor and state lawmakers to pass health care
reform legislation this session that will help consumers gain access to
higher-quality, lower-cost health care. The Minnesota State Legislature
is considering several good proposals to reform the health care system,
and AARP has made health care its top priority this session. “They have
the opportunity to agree on meaningful health care legislation that will
help more Minnesotans get coverage they deserve and can afford,” said
AARP State President Skip Humphrey. “Our job is to stress to them how
vitally important this issue is to us and to our families.” AARP has
weighed in with both the House and Senate leaders on the issue, and
Humphrey has provided testimony. AARP is urging the state to develop a
good nonbiased information source of information for consumers about
health care and to undertake a *major consumer education campaign*.
Affordability is also a top concern, and AARP supports establishing some
catastrophic coverage protections and setting affordability standards to
help eliminate health care bankruptcies. Other issues of concern include
ensuring that Minnesotans are not priced out of the insurance market
simply based on age, and reforming the payment system so that providers
are paid in a way that reflects the quality – not just the quantity or
care given. *Health care reform will be the main topic of AARP’s Lobby
Day on March 5th, and members will be urged to call their legislators to
keep this issue on the front burner throughout the legislative session.
